My partner and I went to see the ballet Giselle at the beginning of October 2012. Fortunately, the venue was just over the road from the hotel we were staying at, so it was really easy to find.
Whilst I can’t comment on the quality of the plays (wouldn’t understand them anyway!) the ballet we saw was fantastic.
It’s an incredible building – gold and red rules supreme – and you really feel transported back in time when you step inside it.
The ballet itself was done really well – great scenery, stunning costumes and the choreography was breath-taking.
My partner had never been to a ballet before, so I wasn’t sure if he’d like it – but he did.
Moreover, tickets are ridiculously cheap. We paid the equivalent of about £6 each. You wouldn’t even get in the door with that amount at The Royal Opera House in Covent Garden!
If you’re staying in Cluj, make sure you take a trip to this spectacular building. Ballets are obviously more suitable for non-Romanian and Hungarian speakers, and you get to experience a performance the Romanian way.
